The Securing Inclusion project aims to foster diversity and inclusion in security studies, a field that remains among the least diverse within international politics. By supporting both higher education staff and students, the project addresses persistent explicit and implicit barriers linked to gender, ethnicity, and religion, which continue to shape traditional learning environments.
At the heart of its approach is the development of innovative, game-based learning tools. Notably, an anti-discrimination simulation game developed by Matej Bel University in Slovakia allows participants to engage with realistic scenarios, reflect on their own biases, and explore more inclusive perspectives on security.
Through these initiatives, Securing Inclusion contributes to the creation of more inclusive, diverse, and forward-looking educational environments, helping to prepare a new generation of scholars and professionals equipped to address today’s complex security challenges.
