Multiplier event at the University of National and World Economy in Bulgaria
On February 19, a seminar titled “Gender Perspectives in Defence and Security Studies” was held at the UNWE. The event aimed to draw the attention of undergraduate students studying in the Department of National and Regional Security, a leading Bulgarian academic entity in the training of specialists in Defence and security economics, to the importance of diversity in the security and defence domain. During the seminar, Sen. Assist. Prof. Dr. Atanas Dimitrov Assist. Prof. Dr. Tsvetomira Penkova presented some of the main characteristics and challenges of this issue, particularly:
- Historical context
- Men vs. women in the defence and security field.
- The role of women in peace operations
- Diversity in security studies
- Case studies
The seminar was incorporated into the course in Defence and Security Management, studied by students enrolled in the third year of their studies in Defence and Security Economics. More than 40 students attended the seminar and actively participated in the follow-up discussions.
